Kellyville at Jamberoo 09

Best Buddies Kellyville head to Jamberoo!

On Tuesday 2nd November 51 members of Best Buddies and 7 staff left for the inaugural Best Buddies Camp.

We were headed down the coast to the Illawarra region. Our first stop was morning tea at Stuart Park, Wollongong.

We then boarded the bus and drove to the Nan Tien Temple.  We had a quick lesson in Tai Chi and then went to the dining room for lunch.  After lunch we split into two groups and toured the Buddhist Temple.  We were told about the bell and the drum that is rung 108 times every morning and night to signify a new day.  We then had to take our shoes off to enter the temple and were told what the various budda’s represented.

We then once again boarded the bus and headed to Kiama for a scenic walk from the Blowhole to the town centre where we stopped and had an ice cream from the famous ice creamery.

We left Kiama and went to Jamberoo Valley Lodge where we were staying. We were allocated to our rooms and unpacked and then headed to the dining room for dinner. After dinner we had free time, some of us went into the pool for a swim, some of us watched T.V. and others sat around chatting.

After an early start we went to Jamberoo Action Park. We went on the Taipan, The Rock, The Rapid River, Surf Hill, Wave Pool, Mini Putt Putt, Splash Out and Billabong Beach.  Everybody had a fantastic day even though the weather was overcast with misty rain.

After arriving back at the Lodge we all had warm showers and then headed to Macquarie room to watch DVD’s before going to dinner.  After dinner some of us watched another movie whilst others spent quality time with their buddies.

We awoke to miserable weather which prevented us from going to the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk.  Mrs Olliver organised for us to go to Strike Zone Bowling Alley at Albion Park.

We then headed back to school and home for a well earned sleep.
