'Disco Disco Disco!' It was hard to work out what buddies enjoyed more at our Disco Bowls Fun Day - the bowling, the cool cars or the boogieing! 35 buddies & volunteers from 4 schools came together at 10:30am on the last Friday of the school holidays (16th July) at the super-cool and retro Manhattan Super Bowl in Mascot to cut loose and have some fun whilst enjoying some quality time with their buddies.
After measuring feet and donning bowling shoes, teams of six took to the lanes. After a bit of warming up, it wasn't long before shouts of 'STRIKE!' were heard. Who knew everyone was SO competitive?! There were some fantastic scores, but special mention must go to Jonothan (from Marrickville HS) for his top score of 117 - well done Jonothan!
As for the dancing...well it was a close call between Dancing Queen Cassie and the Boogie-Wonderland created by Daniel (both from SSC Leichhardt Campus.)
After everyone had worked up an appetite and more than one person was ready to eat a horse, everyone made quick work of the pizzas, chips and drinks that were provided for all to enjoy. Then it was time to say 'goodbye' to everyone...
All in all, it was a really fun day! Best Buddies would like to thank Manhattan Super Bowl for helping us to organise such a great day enjoyed by so many and all our volunteers- peer buddies, buddies, teachers and parents for making the effort to get everyone there and back on the day in the school holidays. We would also like to thank Sara and Anthony from BNY Mellon for hanging out with us on the day.
