BBA Gets Support From The NSW Government

Best Buddies Australia Gets Support From NSW Government Department

At the eleventh hour. the NSW Government - through the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) - has come through with support for BBA providing funds for the existing NSW high schools program. At this time we are continuing to seek funds for our Victorian program.

February saw Best Buddies' media super-star buddy pair Michael and Josh (from Kellyville High School) featuring in an article run by the Sydney Morning Herald and on a piece on Channel 9's Today Show. BBA's Executive Director Mark was also interviewed on 2UE. As a result, many more people around Australia are aware of what BBA does and have hopefully been inspired to get involved somehow.

We are thrilled to receive modest funding from the NSW Government, but still require significant further financial support to deliver increased services to our existing buddy pairs, to expand the program into new schools throughout the Sydney region and to develop new programs like Citizens in NSW (click here for more info about Citizens in Melbourne). We continue to seek funds for our programs interstate.

If you would like to support Best Buddies please call the Executive Director Mark Trevaskis on 9211 8722.
