On Friday 12 December 2008, Best Buddies Australia held its Annual Luna Park Day. Despite rather bleak conditions (we should have worn flippers), everyone had a great time.
We were met by a group of excellent volunteers from Freehills, in conjunction with United Way Sydney, during lunch time. Following a brief education session provided by Michael, Fiona and Mark, we all headed into Luna Park for a day of mayhem and fun. The Interns had offered their assistance as part of their summer program, however left with a greater understanding of what Best Buddies is about, and an afternoon of memories that we hope they will retain for many years.
Our very own Best Buddies Ambassador also attended the day. Deborah Hutton was sighted on several occasions running wide with the young folk from Blackwattle Bay. We also believe that she may have made a new friend in Donnie. We wanted to thank Deborah and hope she had a great time.
As you would recall, the weather was a little unforgiving however our Leader and Executive Officer Mark, managed to save the day by providing high end fashion garbage bags as make shift rain coats. Sporting a classy number for most of the day, Mark reported that despite best efforts, he was wet from head to toe.
Best Buddies Australia wanted to thank all who attended and supported the day. It was, as always a great success primarily due to the great attitude demonstrated by our volunteers and their Buddies.
If you would like to see the photo's log onto the Buddy Up area.
Well done all and see you next year.
