The Best Buddies Australia Citizen’s Program (designed for those over 18 years) is currently supported by the Sylvanvale Foundation, The Cerebral Palsy Association and the City of Sydney.
All three organisations contributed funds to Best Buddies in November 2010 with a view to establishing this unique service in Sydney.
Best Buddies employed one full time staff member and one part time worker and created the Best Buddies Citizen’s Program and the Best Buddies Eastern Suburbs Program.
Almost 12 months on, both programs are well on tract to delivering the outcomes we set out. These not only include a number of Buddy Pairs meeting on a regular basis, but establishing a system of recruiting volunteers, educating the community and engaging with our primary sponsors. We have also noticed that our Buddy Pairs are engaging with each other’s families more and more, something we didn’t expect.
If not for the support of the Sylvanvale Foundation, The Cerebral Palsy Association and the City of Sydney, we would not be able to provide this essential service.
If you or your company would like to make a major difference in the delivery of services to people who have an intellectual disability then supporting a Best Buddies core program (Citizen’s or High Schools) is a great way to achieve your goals.
Feel free to contact Best Buddies to discuss how we can work together.
